Diana Containerships Inc has taken delivery of two panamax containerships and, separately announced its draw down US$75.5 million from the revolving credit facility with the Royal Bank of Scotland.
The Cap San Marco and Cap San Raphael were built in 2001 and 2002, respectively, each with a capacity of 3,750 TEU. The purchase price for each vessel was $33 million, a company statement said.
The two vessels have been chartered back to the sellers, Reederei Santa Containerschiffe GmbH & Co. KG, for a period of 36 months plus or minus 45 days. The net daily charter hire rate for each vessel will be $22,750 during the first 12 months, $22,850 during the second 12 months and $23,250 during the third 12 months. Both charters commenced upon the vessels’ delivery to the company.
The employment of the two ships is anticipated to generate $47.5 million of revenues for the minimum agreed period of the charters.
It added that the draw down of $75.5 million, under a revolving credit facility of up to $100 million, may be increased to $150 million subject to further syndication, a statement posted by GlobeNewswire via COMTEX said.
